THE ROLE
The incumbent will be required to oversee all warehouse functions and service provider effectiveness to ensure the professional and efficient operation of the Warehouse. He/she will also be responsible for working with the regulatory authorities to ensure speedy inspection of overseas containers.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Directs the activities of the warehouse staff & service provider to ensure optimal performance.
- Monitors inbound and outbound activities while paying close attention to the balance between timely delivery, cost and the quality of the product and service.
- Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring safety and security procedures and protocols, ensuring full compliance.
- Ensures compliance to current procedures and methods and in service, safety, quality, cost control, security, efficiencies, housekeeping, sanitation, to ensure agreed objectives/standards are met.
- Maintain all logs and reporting documentation as required.
- Accurately document and report all damaged good received to Purchasing department with the appropriate evidence as indicated by Principals. Report same to Inventory co-ordinator.
- Investigate delays on vehicles on compound and escalate same to Logistics Planning Manager and/or Warehouse Manager.
- Track and manage the turnaround time of containers to prevent storage/demurrage.
- Manage, evaluate and report on warehouse productivity.
- Performing a daily inspection of the warehouse and its surrounding grounds to ensure standards are maintained.
- Coordinate and maintain fleets and equipment such as Forklifts, Electric Walkies etc.
- Accomplish warehouse objectives by selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees. Communicate job expectations; planning, monitoring, appraising job contributions and adhering to policies and procedures.
- Develop and review policies and procedures to improve and support the business.
- Ensure the storage area is maintained by organizing floor space; adhering to storage design principles and recommending improvements.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Tertiary diploma in Logistics or equivalent.
- Minimum three (3) years working experience in Warehouse Operations, preferably in food distribution.
